Open, Honest, Timely Communications . . .
The hallmarks of successful public communication is openess, honesty, and responsiveness -- precisely what I strive to achieve every day when interacting with my neighbors, the Village Council, and other Village residents. As your Councilwoman, I believe it is my utmost obligation to maintain regular communications regarding important and topical issues facing our Village. Compiled here for your reference are published news articles, announcements, and an index of "Council Updates" I issued regularly via e-mail. As always, please contact me with any questions or concerns.
Updates, Articles, Announcements Village Map May Spark Growth, Feb. 2010 -- I have been a strong advocate of economic growth in the Village's commerical areas. There is a recent effort underway that will kick start interest and growth of new and existing businesses in our community – the new Village of Palmetto Bay map. The premier edition of this new marketing tool is presently in production, as advertisers are now lining up for the 30 display-ad slots available. More than 75,000 maps will be produced annually. Visit the Village website and/or Miami Maps for more information.
Shed Relief Amnesty Expires Aug 3
This ordinance allows residents to bring unpermitted sheds into compliance without double permit fees or code violation fines. A permit under the amnesty will cost $85 as well as greatly reduced fees and paperwork if a variance is required. Without the Amnesty Program costs could be $2000. It is much cheaper and paperwork is easier NOW. You may have an unpermitted shed if:
1. you bought a house with a shed
2. Post Andrew Shed
3. Thought the company pulled the permit.
You will have to permit your shed if:
>You sell your house
>Pull a permit for a roof, driveway, fence, remodeling, etc.
>Get caught if your neighbor pulls a permit.
Call Zoning to find out if your shed was permitted. After the deadline the variance will no longer be available. Visit Village Hall, or call the Zoning Department at 305-259-1234,
Or go to: Shed Amnesty

Safe Route to Schools, Feb. 2010 -- The Village is receiving County grant money to survey safer routes to schools for our kids – a program that is close to my heart as a long-time advocate for schools and safer streets in our community. This study is part of a national program that encourages kids to walk and bicycle to school. The areas around and leading up the Village's four public schools will benefit. This is also good green news, as it encourages kids to reduce their carbon footprint on our community, and it's great news for the health of our kids, too. In fact, I was quoted recently in The Miami Herald saying just that!
MIAMI HERALD, Feb. 21, 2010 -- Councilwoman Stanczyk is quoted in Neighbors section supporting a study to find the safest routes to schools.
PALMETTO BAY NEWS / MIAMI HERALD, Jan. 2010 -- The Herald (part 1) and Palmetto Bay News (part 2) recently featured a series I wrote outlining commercial developments taking place across the Village. Click the links above to read more...
COUNCIL UPDATE, Jan. 13, 2010 -- I hope the New Year has started out in a positive direction for everyone. I love the feel of a clean slate and starting fresh in January of each year. New goals to accomplish and directions to take make the New Year an exciting time for me. True, some of the resolutions may get held over from the past year but there is new hope to be able to check the box, completed. The Palmetto Bay website has a quick glance view in pictures of the past year in our Village. Take a look and then tour the rest of the website. It keeps changing and continues to offer more and more to our residents.
More "Updates" will be added as this page is further developed.
